" Moonlit Moment "

A Florida Bay Painting

" M O O N L I T      M O M E N T "

An Original, Signed, Framed, Certified Acrylic Painting
by Noted Florida Landscape Artist, Riley Geddings

This Acrylic Painting:
This original Florida art - on framed canvas board - was completed in May, 2008, and was signed by this artist, R.Geddings. This painting has a double application of professional-grade Acrylic Polymer Varnish for protection and to bring out the deep sheen of the colors ! It actually appears as if it were an oil ! The actual canvas measures 20-inches wide by 16-inches high, is framed in a new, solid wood frame and is wall ready !

This is Acrylic #9 in Riley's recent venture into the world of acrylics and depicts a very special moment in time - a moment rarely seen by the eye of man - a moment during the night of a full moon - hence the title "MOONLIT MOMENT".
It was during Easter weekend that Riley was "in the field" looking for those special Florida vistas which he could capture on his digital camera in order to create his authenic Florida landscapes. This scene - "MOONLIT MOMENT" - was captured just before midnight, after taking several shots of the full moon reflected in the calm waters of Florida Bay. The clicking of the camera disturbed a noctural bird seldom seen by the eye of man.

The "Yellow Crowned Night Heron" is rather a shy migratory bird - spending the winter in Florida before heading north up the Mississippi to the breeding grounds in New Jersey. This solitary bird had apparently been wading along the narrow stretch of beach bordering Florida Bay, searching for a meal of small fish, crustaceans or frogs - his favorite foods. That unique moment in time was Riley's to re-create as an acrylic painting back in his studio.

Silhouetted against the night sky, one sees the brilliant full moon illuminating a few clouds, shedding its eternal mystical light and forming a perfect backdrop for this solitary, nocturnal "Yellow Crowned Night Heron". On stage right one observes Florida Cabbage Palms glistening in the moonlight - whilst on stage left is a Mangrove thicket so typical of the Florida landscape.

The colors you see on your computer screen do not do justice to those in the actual acrylic painting which are really gorgeous - so vibrantly beautiful they seem to come alive ! This signed and certified original painting will not only be a valuable addition to your collection of Florida art, but a good investment as well !
