Having established himself as an artist of note with his paintings in OIL for many years, this particular "Geddings Original" painting represents Riley's SIXTH in this new series of his recent debut into the world of acrylics. Riley specializes in Florida scenes - especially The Florida Everglades - and has chosen yet another typical Everglades scene for this painting, as he continues his journey venturing into the world of acrylics.

Looking at this "Haven in The Glades" for the first time, one is immediately aware of a quiet, tranquil haven in The Florida Everglades wilderness seldom seen by man - a veritable HAVEN indeed. The artist has once more captured on canvas an authentic Florida scene of the dawning of a new day ... the sky still has a few clouds as a reminder of the midnight showers ... the sun has recently appeared in the heavens and is reflected in the waters below ... and Florida's wildlife has just awakened to start their daily search for food ... all captured on canvas in a magnificent portrayal of the beauty of God's creation !

On center-stage is a sandy beach sometimes encountered in The Glades, and one can just imagine the unforgettable sensation of Florida's sand coursing around one's toes. The Great White Heron in the foreground stands motionless as his eyes scan the waters below for his breakfast, whilst others of the same species are already feeding in the distance. Overhead one sees the hallmark of this artist's talented artwork - Florida's ever-present seagull hovering and hoping. The marsh grasses surrounding this haven of water lead one to the hammock so typical in The Everglades, where the lush Florida foliage supports the tall, majestic Cabbage Palms.

Stationed between the two Cabbage Palms, one can see a tall "snag" (a dead Southern Pine Tree) chosen by one of Florida's native birds - the Osprey - as a site on which he has built his nest. The Osprey approaches this huge nest - probably to feed his offspring a Bream or Shellcracker - typically found in these Florida backwaters.

The colors you see on your computer screen do not do justice to those in the actual acrylic painting which are really gorgeous - so vibrantly beautiful they seem to come alive !
