" Florida Bay Sunrise "

An oil painting by Riley Geddings

This artist has painted a beautiful Florida Bay sunrise.

"FLORIDA BAY SUNRISE"

This original oil on canvas nautical scene was painted in the year 2005, and was signed by the artist.

As you can see, he has captured the rich colors of a typical Florida sunrise reflected in the greyish tones of the waters of Florida Bay.

The inclusion of one of Florida's native trees - a huge Live Oak Tree, typically clad with Spanish Moss - together with the visiting Snowy Egret, adds authenticity to this tranquil scene.

Note of Interest:
Florida Bay is a shallow, inner-shelf lagoon at the southern end of the South Florida Watershed between the mainland and the chain of islands known as The Florida Keys. This area is where fresh water from The Everglades mixes with salty waters from the Gulf of Mexico to form an estuary that is surrounded by mangrove forests on over 200 mangrove islands.

Florida Bay itself is characterized by nearly 1,000 square miles of shallow, interconnected basins and mangrove islands within the boundaries of The Everglades National Park providing sanctuary for a host of marine animals including the American Crocodile, the West Indian Manatee, Loggerhead Turtles, Bottlenose Dolphins, a variety of bird species, many gamefish, the economically valuable Pink Shrimp and the Caribbean Spiny Lobster.

The artist resides in Florida near Tampa, and specializes in native Florida scenes including The Florida Everglades and seascapes.

He is listed on many well-known art and artists internet web sites. Please contact him for more details.
