" Florida Tempest "

" Florida Tempest "
This Oil Painting:
This original Florida art - on a framed canvas panel - was painted in late 2007, and was signed by this artist, R.Geddings. Lots of knife work is included in this painting !
For a change of pace, our popular artist has chosen one of the more dramatic scenes one observes in Nature's World - a storm at sea - a brewing tempest - a "batten-down-the-hatches" moment in time - perchance an approaching hurricane .... He was enjoying this particular beach on the Gulf of Mexico on Florida's west coast during the latter days of Fall when this scene came to life.
The artist has captured the foreboding sky with those ominous, dark, threatening clouds - the promise of an approaching storm so typical of Florida during this season of the year. Overhead gulls are trying to maintain their balance as they are buffeted by the strong winds which accompany such late afternoon storms.
The wind-swept palm trees on the sandy beach stand as silent sentinels protecting the shoreline and the nearby sand dunes. Shore birds stand huddled together on the beach as they patiently weather out the storm. Riding out the storm in The Gulf, can be seen a one-masted schooner, buffeted by the strong waves and gale-force winds, making a valiant attempt to reach safe harbor before the storm actually hits.
The colors you see on your computer screen do not do justice to those in the actual painting which are simply gorgeous !
