This unique oil on canvas was a painting of the Lighthouse at Cape Florida
very late at night when the moon was full and shining in the clouds.
The scene is located on the Atlantic ocean near Miami, Florida.
The driftwood and the beached boat add authenticity to this
lovely midnight scene !
NOTE OF INTEREST:
The Cape Florida Lighthouse is one of the most celebrated landmarks owned
by the State of Florida, and is located near Miami on the southernmost tip
of Key Biscayne.
The lighthouse has a violent past when hurricanes, fire, and the Seminole
Wars swept through the region. The original lighthouse and cottage, built
in 1825, were attacked and burned in 1836 by Seminole warriors protesting
U.S. presence in the South Florida wilderness. This historic lighthouse
in the Bill Baggs State Park was rebuilt in 1855-1856 extending the height
to 95 feet.
The artist resides in Florida near Tampa, and specializes
