" Everglades City "

This artist has painted an actual scene of Everglades City, Florida'.

"EVERGLADES CITY, FLORIDA"

This original framed oil on canvas-panel seascape was painted in 2007, and was signed by the artist, R.Geddings.

The artist has captured an authentic and real scene of the edge of the Florida Everglades near the small town of Everglades City, Florida.

You can sense this secluded area's feeling of serene quietness as the sun is setting over the Gulf of Mexico beyond the "Ten Thousand Islands" on Florida's west coast !

A few sea gulls overhead are deciding where to roost for the night, while one has already taken up a piling on the small boat dock.

As you can see, the artist has captured the beautiful colors of the Florida sky and the reflections in the water as the day is ending.

The scene gives the viewer a feeling relaxing tranquility. Note the tall palms in the distance standing majestically against the colorful sky !

In addition to and along with this oil painting, the buyer has received a
"CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICATION" signed and dated by the artist, R.Geddings.

Note of Interest:
Everglades City proclaims itself as the Gateway to the 10,000 Islands, and for paddlers that is most certainly true. It is one end of the Wilderness Waterway, the famous Everglades backcountry route linking Everglades City to Flamingo. It is the best place in the 10,000 Islands to rent canoes or kayaks.

It is part of the Big Cypress National Preserve, Everglades National Park, and Fakahatchee Strand State Preserve.

Prior to 1923, Everglades City was called Everglade, a name given the settlement along the crooked little Allen's River in 1893 by Bembery Storter after the U.S. Post Office refused the request for the name Chokoloskee. Farming was the primary occupation of people living in the area and included sugarcane, bananas, and vegetables. Allen gave Everglades City its start, but George T. Storter is considered the true founder of the town.
